How many students are accepted into Examen?
This year, we are accepting a maximum of 30 students on a first-come-first-serve basis.
How old do I need to be to participate in Examen?
Examen is for upcoming Juniors and Seniors in high school and upcoming freshman in college. So the typical age is between 16 to 19-years-old.
How much does Examen cost?
Examen is completely free, which includes meals, housing, off-site activities, and tuition for college credit. The only cost to the Examen student is the travel necessary to get to Indiana Wesleyan University’s campus and returning home after the program.
What is the class I would take at Examen?
The college class offered at Examen is one of the three Bible-Theology general education classes offered at Indiana Wesleyan University, and rotates on a three year cycle. The classes include Old Testament Survey, New Testament Survey, and Theology of Christian Life. The Examen class schedule is as follows:
Examen 2024: Models of Ministry (1-credit hour) and/or New Testament Survey (3-credit hours)
Examen 2025: Models of Ministry (1-credit hour) and/or Old Testament Survey (3-credit hours)
Examen 2026: Models of Ministry (1-credit) and/or Theology of Christian Life (3-credit hours)
Can I attend for more than one year?
Absolutely! You can attend up to three subsequent years if you begin as a Junior in high school. This allows for you to get up to 10-credit hours of biblical-theological education.
What activities would I get to participate in at Examen?
Activities range from rock climbing, high adventure learning, a weekend spiritual retreat, seminars over the call to ministry, daily Examen prayers, worship nights, recreation activities, and more!
Where’s Indiana Wesleyan University?
Indiana Wesleyan University is located at 4201 S Washington St, Marion, IN 46953. It’s housed in between Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, the two largest cities in Indiana.
Why do I need to submit my transcript?
Examen isn’t just a summer camp. It’s also a dual-enrollment course! Therefore, a high school transcript is needed to follow the process for any high school student to enroll in a college-level course at Indiana Wesleyan University.
What’s the application process?
Click the APPLY NOW! button on the home page to begin your application.
If this is your first time doing Examen, create a username and password through Indiana Wesleyan University’s application manager. Follow onscreen instructions as prompted. If you have applied to Examen in the past, login to the application manager as a RETURNING USER.
Once your account is created, complete the application. Be sure to press the “SUBMIT” button after signing your name on the last page.
After submitting your application, you’ll need to submit the following materials:
• Request your official high school transcript be sent to Indiana Wesleyan University
• Complete the two essays on the Examen Information Form on IWU’s application managerYou can log in at any point to update information or see the progress on your materials by clicking the APPLY NOW button above and logging in with your username and password
Once all your materials are in, you will be contacted via email and personal phone call about your admittance into the program!
NOTE: You will only be considered for the program after all the listed materials are submitted. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
